Diese sind den Inhalten einer Doppelseite zugeordnet und ergänzen das Zeitbild „Nationalsozialismus“ der Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung zum Hybrid-Buch.

Gerhard Paul und Michael Wildt schildern in dieser Überblicksdarstellung den Nationalsozialismus von den Anfängen bis in die Gegenwart als Gesellschafts- und Mediengeschichte. Danach bedeutete die NS-„Volksgemeinschaft“ Terror und Teilhabemöglichkeit, Repression und Mobilisierung, Exklusion und Inklusionsangebot. Politische Gegner und insbesondere im rassistischen Weltbild Ausgeschlossene wurden diskriminiert, verfolgt und ermordet. Die Mehrheitsgesellschaft konnte sich daran beteiligen, davon profitieren – oder sich widersetzen.

Die Autoren zeigen und analysieren in zeitgenössischen Quellen die Perspektiven der Täter, Opfer und scheinbar Unbeteiligten in Deutschland und Europa, den Metropolen und der Provinz. Ein besonderes Augenmerk legen sie auf die mediale Dimension, denn nationalsozialistische Herrschaft, Krieg und Massenmord schufen nicht zuletzt eigene Bild- und Tonwelten.
