Coin Identifier & Scanner is a working desk for collectors: photograph a coin, write down the details you can read off it, and see which entries in the built-in reference catalogue agree with the most of them. Everything stays on your device.
HOW IT WORKS
Take the picture, then type what the coin shows you: name, country, denomination, year, mint mark, composition. Fill in what you can read and leave the rest blank. The app compares your entry against its offline catalogue and lists the types that match, each one saying exactly which of your details it agreed with. You pick the one you believe.
WHAT IT DOES NOT DO
It does not read the photograph. No percentage, no automatic verdict, no price lookup — there is no price catalogue and no server to ask. Every entry is labeled "Reference" so it is never mistaken for a finding about your own coin.
BUILT-IN REFERENCE CATALOGUE
28 widely documented coin types from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Austria, South Africa and the euro area, each with the years the type was struck, the mints that struck it, composition, weight in grams, diameter in millimeters, designer, and one line on how to tell it from a look-alike. Every type ships with a photograph.
COMPARE THE ALTERNATIVES
When several types fit what you typed, they are listed side by side with the details that agreed — a 1921 Morgan and a 1921 Peace dollar one tap apart — so you check the date, mint mark and design yourself before you commit.
CONDITION, ANSWERED BY YOU
Four questions a grader asks: how much mint luster is left, how worn the high points are, how many contact marks you can see, how crisply the design was struck. Your answers map to a published Sheldon band through a fixed table, so the same answers always give the same band. A grade guide covers all eight bands from PO-AG through MS. It is your reading of your coin, not a certified grade; only a service such as PCGS or NGC can grant one of those.
VALUE REFERENCE, IN YOUR OWN FIGURES
Record the low and high you are working to and the basis behind it: circulated, uncirculated, certified or cleaned. The screen keeps that range with the coin, alongside the factors that move it. The app never quotes a market price and never appraises. Consult a certified dealer before buying or selling.
YOUR CABINET
Every coin you file is kept in grid or list view with its photograph, search across the whole cabinet, filters by country, year and mint mark, favorites, and sorting by date added, name, year or your recorded value.
NOTES AND ACQUISITION LOG
Write what you want to remember, and record the date acquired, the source or seller, and what you paid. Star the coins you care about. Save a coin photograph back to your photo library whenever you want a copy outside the app.
CAPTURE HISTORY
Every capture is listed by day, filed and unfiled alike. Return to any of them, or clear the history without touching the cabinet.
ON YOUR DEVICE
No account and no sign-in. Photographs, records, notes and figures are stored locally with Core Data. Nothing is uploaded, there is no analytics or crash-reporting service, no ads and no tracking.
ACCESS
The app is unlocked with a single purchase, offered as Weekly, Yearly or Lifetime. Prices are shown on the purchase screen in your own currency.
Weekly and Yearly are auto-renewable subscriptions. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of that period. Manage or cancel in your Apple ID account settings. Lifetime is a one-time purchase and does not renew.
