Was a very useful service but now they've gotten rid of it without providing any real alternative for people that don't have iPhones (for wifi calling). I can't use WiFi calling so am now stuck if I need to make 08 calls whilst I'm away from home. Did they consult anyone that doesn't have a fancy £800 phone?

Beware. BT promote the SmartTalk app as a way of saving money on calls from your mobile. Benefits include cheaper calls to 0845 and 0870 numbers - and making calls to the UK from abroad for the price you'd pay, if you were at home. However, this app routes every call via the Internet, if your phone has a Wi-Fi connection. My mobile tariff includes 200 minutes of free calls per month to UK landlines. That allowance is available on every day of the week. My landline tariff allows free calls on Saturdays and Sundays only. I discovered to my cost that the app was routing calls via the Internet on weekdays, whilst I was still in the UK. Then, it charged the cost to my account at landline rates. These calls should have been covered by my free mobile allowance, so there was no reason to route them via the Internet as chargeable calls. Hence my 2-star rating for this app. If you install this app, you must change the default settings immediately. Otherwise, it could cost you money. Further info 11 December 2018. I have changed my phone and tried to transfer the service to my new phone. The transfer failed and when I checked with BT, they said they are not accepting new users
