Comments on Calgary Herald for Android

★★★★☆ David John-George · Jan 3, 2026

I love the actual Calgary Herald and when it doesn't or cannot be delivered to my door. I'll accept the digital version. I still prefer to keep one or at least a few of my fellow Canadians employed. I still buy the print version when I'm around as I believe everyone from the press room to the paper mill should be able to keep their job. I just wish with the 2 different papers, Sun and Herald that they'd have alil autonomy between them both.

★★★★☆ Geoffrey Garner · Jun 9, 2025

I appreciate having local news from the Calgary Herald. I specifically enjoy reading the "On The Road" stories by Mike Drew. It' so nice to spend a morning drinking coffee and reading about nature in this beautiful province. I look forward to it every time it comes out and is one of the main reasons I keep my subscription. The app itself is pretty slow, takes awhile for the stories to load as I'm scrolling down through them. That can be frustrating, but hopefully something that is easily fixable.

I'd give it zero stars if I could. I've used it for years and it was fine. I knew that as a free user, I wasn't seeing all the articles or seeing them early, but it was OK. I even considered paying to upgrade but never got around to it. Now, since they want to force you to pay to see ANYTHING, I'm deleting the app and getting my news elsewhere! Calgary Herald, you messed up BAD!!!

★★☆☆☆ Marcus C · Apr 15, 2024

Decent update but shouldn't require a subscription, and it's absurd that there's no comment forum in any article—half the reason to get a login is to comment.

★☆☆☆☆ Victoria Walker · Sep 5, 2023

Very slow at getting big news updates. Often 30 min to hours behind other news sources. Articles are also not updated frequently on the app and generally carries the same news stories for weeks at a time. Update Sept 5/23: degraded to 1 star. App has been non-functional for days now. When you click on a story it's just black with no text.
