I've used Messages for 16+ years now. But now that it's gone to a subscription model, I abandoned it completely. I tried a variety of other keyboards... but nothing could compare. After googling for a while, I found thumb-key. It has the same key configuration, but the letter, are arranged differently. I was so pleased to see that I could arrange the keys to be the same as message ease, in the settings. So... I didn't need to have a learning curve. There are minor differences, most good

Deleted Messages, came here instead. I would like to see: 1. Adding '+' to the end of a string and hitting 'backspace' capitalizes the first letter: eg 'george+' & 'backspace' becomes 'George'. 2. adding '-' to the end of a string and hitting 'backspace' deletes the whole string: eg 'George' & 'backspace' = ''. 3. 'Underscore' is optionally used instead of the space bar (or set select your own symbol); 'return' is then a swipe down from 's'; more space, less keyboard.

Update from december 2025 breaks things. Now all letters on my custom keyboard are hidden. How to downgrade app?
