The Fire, Weather & Avalanche Center (FWAC) Wildfire Map app is a great tool for checking for wildfires--big or small--across the country. In addition to large wildfire incidents, our map also incorporates smoke checks, prescribed burns, and smaller wildfires that you usually don't hear about because they're only a couple acres in size.

I think this map has great potential and I do really like the design of it. However, the lack of accurate updates on some of the reported wildfires is disappointing. It's clear some fires are being actively updated, then you click on others that are marked as active and quickly spreading only to see that it was last updated a month ago or longer, which, obviously and disappointingly, makes the map quite inaccurate.

This app was great last summer. Lately, however, it will not open on my phone. Google Pixel 3A xl. And yes, I know the phone isn't the newest model, but the app should work still. Edit:. It's working again. A recent update must have fixed my crashing problems. Its back to being a great app!

The information is great, when I can get it, but it's often incredibly frustrating to navigate. It can take minutes for the map to even start loading and then another minute or more to actually appear. Adjusting menu items may or may not provide a response. I repeatedly restart the app to try to get something. Uninstalled/reinstalled, no help. UPDATE... While I had a lot of trouble with this in the beginning, it all of a sudden has been working flawlessly, and I upped to 5 star.

App will not open, why can't you fix this problem? There are many reviews tell you of this problem. Here we are in the middle of Fire season 9/20/2022 and this dam thing will not open or anything else. This is something that thought would help me to get ready for a fire buts nothing but junk. Can't you fix this or should I just go to something else?

There is too much trying to load on screen so the whole app lags or crashes.

This app is not up-to-date. I know of two fires in Archer and Clay counties right now that do not even show on this app.
