Description

Ik weet nog goed hoe het voelde, de eerste keer dat ik noorderlicht zag. Ik had foto's gezien, natuurlijk, dat heeft iedereen weleens. Maar niets bereidt je voor op dat moment zelf. Die stilte, die kleur boven je hoofd, het gevoel dat je iets meemaakt dat groter is dan jezelf.

Sindsdien volg ik de zonnewind bijna elke avond, en die gewoonte wilde ik graag delen. Noorderlicht Vandaag is het live-blog dat daaruit is ontstaan. Elk uur, van 17:00 tot 01:00, analyseert mijn systeem automatisch wat de zonnewind doet, op basis van de kennis die ik daarover heb opgebouwd. Geen kaal percentage waar je niets mee kunt, maar een eerlijk verhaal over de kans van dat moment.

In de app vind je dat live-blog, met de actuele cijfers erbij (Bz, Bt, snelheid en dichtheid) voor wie de details ook zelf wil volgen. Onder Nederland zie je hoe het ervoor staat voor Noord-Nederland, want daar valt af en toe iets te zien terwijl de rest van het land het mist. En via de webcams in Lapland kun je meteen meekijken of er nu iets te zien is.

Naast het live-blog kan je op een noorderlicht radar zien wat de kansen op het noorderlicht zijn op de kaart.

Zet pushmeldingen aan en je krijgt een melding zodra er noorderlicht zichtbaar is op een van de webcams. Zo hoef je zelf niet voortdurend te verversen, dat regelt mijn systeem al voor je.

Deze app komt voort uit norns.nl, waar ik ook schrijf over reizen naar Lapland en IJsland, en waar je je, los van de app, kunt aanmelden voor een aparte e-mailalert voor Nederland en België.

De app zelf is gratis te gebruiken.
