Must have app as a local. Whether you have the physical octopus card or switch over to the online version, the app helps you collect subsidy, refill octopus, transfer money into other's octopus with ease. Also helps you check the value in your octopus and informs you of any potential promotions you can take advantage of!

Ridiculous that iOS has a version for "tourist" while android needs to use a phone number to register or be able to activate a digital card. Nonsense.

You have no option for international visitors using android, only iphone. It cannot be hard to allow for visitors without a Hong Kong phone number.
