PerliStream: Home Media Player

PerliStream is a home media player for your own media server: stream your own films, series and home videos to your phone, tablet or Android TV, or download them to watch offline.

Your media library lives on a PerliStream server that you, or someone in your family, runs on your own hardware. The app connects to that server and plays what is already yours.

PerliStream supplies no films, no series and no channels of its own. Until you connect to a server you have access to, there is nothing to watch.

YOU SUPPLY THE SERVER AND THE MEDIA
• Your library is your own files on your own PerliStream server. Nothing is streamed from us, and we never receive your media.
• Sign in with your Google account or with a one-time code sent to your e-mail address. On a television, type a short pairing code shown on the screen instead.
• At home the app reaches your server over your own network, and finds its remote address by itself when you are out.
• A server owner can invite family members to their library.
• If the server is switched off, only what you downloaded to the device can be played.

YOUR MEDIA LIBRARY
• Films and series with artwork, descriptions and details from your server.
• Sort and filter, or search the whole library at once.
• Continue watching picks up where you stopped, on any device signed in to the same server.
• Keep a watchlist of titles in your library.
• Surprise me picks something from your library when nobody can decide.
• A stats screen for what has been watched.

THE VIDEO PLAYER
• Subtitle and audio track pickers, playback speed and a quality picker, all while playing.
• Skip intro on series where your server has found where the intro is.
• Volume boost past 100% for films with a quiet dialogue mix.
• Plays 4K and HDR files directly when the device can decode them, and lets the server convert them when it cannot.
• Resume works offline too.

OFFLINE DOWNLOADS
• Download a film or an episode from your server and watch it with no network.
• Choose the original file or a smaller converted copy before the download starts.
• Subtitles come down with the title.
• When the device goes offline the app offers what is already on it instead of an error.

ON THE TELEVISION
• Android TV support with a launcher tile, and every screen works with a D-pad remote.
• Cast to a Chromecast, with pause and skip from the notification.
• Voice search from the TV remote searches your own library. The short clip goes to your own server, not to us.

ADVERTS
• The app is free and supported by Google AdMob ads: a small banner at the bottom of the main pages (never over video), and now and then one full-screen ad at a natural break after a title has finished.
• No ad plays before, during or over anything you watch, and the television interface carries no advertising.
• Your library, your titles and your searches never choose an ad and never reach an advertiser.

PRIVACY
• Your library, your artwork, your search terms and what you watched stay between the app and your server.
• Optional usage counts are off by default and stay on the device.
• No location, no contacts, no access to your photos or documents.
• You can export or delete your account from inside the app.
