Pleasantly surprised as a Nest Protect user for 10 years. While there is not a 100% feature parity between the two ecosystems Kidde gives a majority of essential functionality for a smart smoke and carbon monoxide detector. A few minor additions and improvements would be the following: app dark theme, a "heads-up" mode similar to Nest where a detection would first be announced in a spoken form instead of the full alarm, and scheduled alarm testing periodically to verify audible alerting.

The only thing I don't like about the water sensor is you can't change the temperature of the warning of how hot it is and how cold it is. It alerts me telling me it's too hot or too cold. I only needed to lurk me when it's wet.

We've been having several false alarms each week since our new Kidde alarms were installed, and are working with an electrician to try to figure out the problem if we can. It would be nice if the alarm notifications were more prominent in the phone, rather than having to open the app to find them. I'm mostly impressed otherwise at how the app has been working, and that you can reset the alarm by assuring the app that you have addressed the problem.

We had the smoke alarm go off. The notification popped up, and I couldn't clear it through the app. I had to get the ladder and press the button. Which was the entire point of getting the 20SAR-W to use our smartphone.

I purchased 20SAR-W smoke detectors that say 'works with Google' on the box. I tried to connect Google Home via kidde app but the app doesn't show the connect button for Google Home. Also adding the device via Google Home app doesn't work, connecting 'Kidde Alarm's via works with Google connection says no compatible devices found!
