The USAA DriveSafe App can help you build safe driving habits and earn discounts off your auto insurance premium. This app is for USAA members with an active auto insurance policy in select states who’ve enrolled in either our USAA SafePilot® or USAA SafePilot Miles™ programs.

So for the most part I like the app. It has helped me be more aware of phone usage while driving. I would give it 5 stars, but I also ride my motorcycles, which is not insured through them. So I think there should be an option that allows you to choose "A vehicle not insured through USAA" in the drop-down menu for that specific drive.

They monitor your driving habits to get the customer to be more aware and involved in keeping your driving habits a little safer for you, the public on the road and USAA. It does help with the bill every month. I'd recommend people try it and see if you can get the potential extra saving. Every bit helps nowadays.

The app has not been working for over ten days yet seemingly keeps logging drives and affecting score. I've taken many Uber rides and been in friends vehicles recently and have no access to trips and changing my passenger status. So I am just watching my score drop without being able to do anything. Seems like a great way to not honor commitments from usaa.

Battery drainer. According to battery analytics on my phone, this app drained my phone battery 33 percentage points in 2.5 hours while tracking 1.5 hours of driving. The small discount hardly seems worth the headache of constantly having my phone's battery drained throughout the day, every day.

This app is WAY too picky about harsh braking. It also demands WAY too much energy from my phone. It won't work if you use a battery saver at all. No discount if you don't drive enough! I'm retired. I should get a discount no matter how far I drive during the policy period. Now the app is using WAY TOO MUCH data >2 GB in less than a month. I had to disable it for a while to keep it from using my entire limit of data!!j
