Description
Use the SynScan app to control Sky-Watcher telescope mounts via Wi-Fi, USB or Bluetooth LE. Mounts without built-in Wi-Fi can be supported via a SynScan Wi-Fi adapter.
This is the Pro version of the SynScan app and contains features suited for expert users using equatorial mounts.
Features - Control telescope mount to slew, align, GOTO and track. - Point And Track: track celestial objects (including the Sun and planets) without aligning. - Support gamepad navigation. - Browse a catalog of stars, comets, and deep sky objects. Or, save your own objects. - Provide access to mount for use by third-party apps, including ASCOM clients, SkySafari, Luminos, Stellarium Mobile Plus, Stellarium Desktop or customer-developed apps. - Support access to the mount and the SynScan app from any platform that supports TCP/UDP connections. - Provide emulator mount for testing and practicing. - Track fast-moving earth satellites by working with the PreviSat app on Windows PC or the Lumios app on iOS devices. - SynMatrix AutoAlign: use the smartphone camera to align the telescope automatically. - Perform polar alignment with or without a polar scope. - Control shutter release (SNAP) port to trigger an attached camera. I'm sorry others have had issues but my experience as a visual observer with the app and my AZ-GTi(X) has been nothing but positive. I've never dropped Wi-Fi, even when I've switched to Sky Safari to view the sky map. The "Tonight's Best" works better than Safari as it shows Alt/Az degrees for everything listed, so you needn't waste time trying to point at objects obscured by trees or clouds. It used to be that it made nicer with Android than iOS, but I understood those problems were solved.

Android app deserves a much better score than shown here. App has gone through several updates and fixes. I used the hand controller that came with my Sky Watcher scope until recently, when I gave the Android app another try. I now rely on the app almost exclusively. Alignment is easier and there are more choices for alignment method. Wireless connection eliminates being tethered to the mount by a coil cord. Downside is a smartphone screen lacks tactile feedback, but practice helps.

Pixel phone running Android 14 connects fine to AZ-GTI mount Wi-Fi but frequently freezes and locks up. Only way to recover is to close the app which loses all alignment, total pain. I have noticed this seems to be related to using the search function when selecting stars, works ok initially but becomes unresponsive after second or third attempt. Also, white screen flashes between app screens. Just not good enough.

Won't connect to my telescope at all on my Samsung S20. Luckily the standard Synscan app works fine.

Polar Scope no longer lights up, so makes it awkward to polar align on star adventurer gti
